Activities, Tips and Hotspots

On Ibiza, water sports naturally take centre stage, as the island is completely surrounded by the Mediterranean Sea. With water temperatures ranging from 18ºC in May to up to 26ºC in August, almost every activity in the crystal-clear, refreshing waters becomes a true pleasure. Only during the winter months, when sea temperatures can drop to around 13ºC, do most water sports enthusiasts take a break from their favourite activities.

For those looking for more than just swimming and sunbathing, water sports centres and rental companies across Ibiza’s resorts and beaches offer a wide variety of activities. From waterskiing, jet skiing, banana boat and donut rides to classic pedal boats and kayaks, there is something for everyone. More adventurous visitors can try or learn windsurfing, surfing, kitesurfing, wing foiling, parasailing and sailing - suitable for both beginners and experienced riders. Various professional schools across the island offer courses and equipment rental. The German sailing licence is also officially recognised for charter boats in Ibiza.

Kitesurfing, also known as kiteboarding, continues to grow in popularity on Ibiza. Especially during spring and autumn, beaches such as Playa d'en Bossa, Playa de Es Cavallet, Cala Martina and Playa des Codolar are among the island’s most popular spots for this exciting sport.

Surfing - often simply referred to as “surf” on Ibiza - is also possible throughout much of the year. Thanks to Ibiza’s island location, there is usually always a coastline with suitable swell and wave conditions somewhere around the island, making surfing possible during almost every season.

For windsurfing, kitesurfing and other wind- or wave-dependent sports, there are specialised wind and weather forecasts available, perfectly tailored to the needs of water sports enthusiasts and sailors on Ibiza.
